Garden Update
Mid June 2026
A Year with the Contemplative Pilgrim 2026
I’ve often compared my gardening to an annual Camino in the backyard, since I go through a similar process. The garden begins as a dream. I hope to arrive at a destination where I harvest the fruit of my labor. Each year allows me the freedom to choose my crops and the different varieties of plants to grow.
Next comes the acts of faith and trust. I plant seed and trust that they will germinate and thrive. Then outside they go, to the whims of nature, rain, drought, wind or storms. The plants are also exposed to animals who also enjoy their bounty!
To me, this is the thrill of life, weathering whatever may come my way, hopefully with joy. This year’s garden began slowly as I planted the seed in poor soil and nearly lost everything. Thankfully, most of the plants survived my mistake and now are bearing fruit. Here’s my video update for this month.
Thanks for traveling with me! I will be starting a series where I examine the various Camino routes in preparation for choosing my next walk. Stay tuned.
Until next time,
